The members of the Greater Houston Builders Association Custom Builder’s Council are committed to quality and customer service. You should find the
right builders for your project within these pages and through the Custom
Builder’s Web site on www.ghba.org. Whomever you choose, always check your builder’s references.
Founded in 1941, the Greater Houston Builders Association is one of the oldest
builders and remodelers associations in the country. The Association represents
more than 1,800 member companies and employees. The Association is also active in community and charitable events. Each year
members contribute property, materials and labor for the Benefit Homes Project.
The majority of the proceeds benefit the Texas Children’s Hospital, the Alzheimer’s Association and HomeAid Houston. Almost $5 million has been raised since the
program began 30 years ago. The Custom Builders Council also sponsors one or
more charitable projects each year. In 2009, GHBA partnered with BABA Support
Our Troops, Inc. as an endorsed charity partner. The goals of the Association
are to further the awareness of the members and communities of the importance
of professional business standards, to enhance the business climate for its
members, and to provide quality obtainable housing to the communities it
serves.

Welcome to the 7th edition of the Houston Custom Home Builders Resource Guide, produced by the Custom Builders Council of the Greater Houston Builders
Association. Our guide will help you select a professional builder, identify
the latest products and trends as well as providing insight on what to expect
when building a custom home. The key to success in building a new home from the
ground up is becoming educated on the home building process. Once you have a
good understanding of the home building process and what to expect, you will
then need to find the builder who is right for you and your project.
The Resource Guide identifies Houston’s most professional custom home builders, associates, their products and
services. The Custom Builders Council (CBC) members are committed to delivering
the highest quality product to their clients. One of the great benefits of
working with a member of the CBC is that each member utilizes monthly council
meetings, continuing education classes and association events as a means of
keeping abreast of the latest techniques, trends and technological advances in
homebuilding. At the national level, members take advantage of the National Association of
Home Builders, University of Housing program and their Designation classes.
Utilizing the NAHB Designations in your selection and qualification process
will help you identify the right builder for your project. Designation holders
are recognized for their commitment to professional growth ensuring they are
operating their businesses at the highest industry standards enabling them to
provide the best possible service, product and pricing to their clients.
Houston has one of the highest participation rates in the NAHB University of
Housing program, and we urge you to find out more about the designations
offered and how your custom home project can benefit from a designation holder.
