Defining Green
In today’s market, builders and dealers are looking for new ways to win business, and so
it goes with
“green building.” The problem is “green” encompasses many different decisions in the building process, from water use to
energy efficiency to indoor air quality. We often get caught up in this noise,
rather than focusing on where we can help.
Remember, to help builders, we should keep the message simple. Our green
strategy is not complicated and can be communicated through four basic messages
when it comes to the structural frame:
• Build with wood. It’s natural. It’s renewable. It stores carbon.
• Choose responsible suppliers. iLevel uses 99 percent of every log* and our products carry SFI and/or CSA
certification.
|
• Use only what you need. Javelin® and iLevel® trained designers help put the right products in the right places.
• Look for ways to reduce waste. NextPhase® streamlines your delivery and framing processes.
There are plenty of iLevel resources if you need additional information about
green building at
www.ilevel.weyer.com/environmental/default.aspx. However, simply remembering these four basic steps will help builders minimize
their impact on the environment and qualify for points under the various green
building rating systems.

*iLevel uses an average of 99% of every log to manufacture product or use as
energy in the manufacturing process.
